Need some sample letters to write to my mate Snr Serg Ritchie
Friend has received her first fine in 6 years for going 5ks over the limit, 8 effectively in a 60 zone whilst driving to work in peak hour traffic, I would say that the spot the camera was in would have caught a couple hundred that day easily I just need a sample letter that someone may have used with success in having the fine cancelled Tah

Hey Laminge,
I'll try and get one tonight. The easiest and probably the best option would be a request for leniency because of there clean record. The other option which is can take longer would be to prove the inaccuracy of the device. I will try and dig up the letters which you would just need to enter in your info in and send it away. Thanks Jake

Sorry I can't help with a sample letter, but I agree with the letter pleading for leniency due to good driving record. I've had a mate try this and he recieved a letter stating that no further action would be taken. Worth a try I reckon.

Laminge,
I've sent you a PM. For the information of everyone else, the requirements in VICTORIA to have a fine withdrawn and a Caution issued instead are: - Full licence holder (not P) - Less than 10km/h over the limit (it used to be 15km/h) - No speeding fine in previous two years (it used to be three) - No collision occurred as a result of the speeding Those are the only criteria that need be met when writing a letter. If they won't get you off, then short of bizarre/extra special circumstances, nothing will.

only hope is proir record... the standard respons from ritchie is 'if i didn't issue it, i can't be the decider'.... effectively.

BA Turbs is right.
The Vic code allows for 1 free hit if you meet the criteria. Appeal for leiniency and you will get off this time. That said, is there anyone left in Vic that they haven't got yet?

only had warnings so far...... but they got my sister 3 times in 12 months. and she just kept her licence.lol there is a rule in vic that if you lose more than 5 demerit points in any 12 month period you lose it. hence why she just kept it... 4 points in 12 months. one more and she would of been stuffed and to top it off she got busted in mums car all 3 times.... got it defected too. and she wondered why she wasnt allowed to drive it for close to 3 months

I don't know if it is still Law in NSW , but if it was a "Minor" offence , you could appeal under "Section 556 a of the Motor traffic Act" . This was for a "First Offence" , but like it says , it's a "Once only job" ....

I know in NSW you will most likely be knocked back unless you have a clean record for 10 years.

I had NEVER lost a point!... So I contested this one.. (below)
Penalty Review Board 27th Nov 2006 Traffic Camera Office GPO 1916 Melbourne 3000 Obligation Number 0628047552 Dear Sirs, My name is”Charliewool”; I am 50 years of age and hold Victorian driving licence number 02518**** On Friday 27th October a roadside speed camera in Blackshaws Rd Altona North detected me allegedly traveling at 67km/h in a posted 60km/h area. Whilst admitting that I must have irresponsibly been traveling over the posted speed limit to receive this penalty, I would also like to point out what a totally out of character offence this is for me. I operate a small engineering business in Laverton, and spend a great deal of time driving, covering around 40,000 Kms per year. From memory, this is the first time I have been detected by any form of safety speed device in this or any state of Australia. I consider myself a mature and very safety conscious driver. I am astutely aware of the dangers of traveling at unsafe or dangerous speed along with the tragedy that accompanies motor accident trauma. All I can put the above offence down to was a momentary lapse in my concentration, for which I am extremely ashamed and remorseful for. I would sincerely ask the possibility of having this penalty reduced to an official warning due to it being such an out of character offence. Yours truly; Charliewool The reply... Tuesday 5th Dec Traffic Camera Office Penalty Review Section Traffic Infringement withdrawal notice and official warning Dear Sir.. I refer to traffic infringement notice number ***** issued to you on 3/11/2006 On perusal of all the available evidence, I am satisfied that the offence was committed, however in consideration of all matters raised, no further action will be taken against you in this matter. The traffic infringement notice has been withdrawn in favour of this official warning. If you have paid the penalty and any prescribed costs a refund will be forwarded to you in due course. If you haven't, disregard the amount on the infringement notice. Any demerit points associated with this offence will be cancelled. Yours faithfully & a merry christmas. Shelly Baker. Senior Constable ***** Traffic Camera Office

Charliewool's letter is perfect. He admits the offence and says he is sorry.
I can't find the letter I wrote when my son got one for doing 76 in a 70 zone. He was still on his P's. but I wrote that he was speeding but was still getting used to driving a 6cyl Ford after learning to drive in a 4cl Hyundai. He got the same reply but no Merry Christmas message |

/\/\ Yep to add to BA_Turbs' list, you also have to admit the offence in your letter.

That letter with some details changed was the last one I used, which was copied off another that a superior gave me. I hope you received it and was ok. It worked for me!

A month ago I received an infringement notice driving 65 in a 50 zone....The particular stretch of road was originally a 70 zone but was recently converted to a 50 zone....$79 fine and loss of 6 demerits...was double demerits as it happened on the Friday night of a long weekend.
Today received another notice for the same stretch of road but the offence happened a month later...again 65 in a 50 zone $79 fine and 3 points loss. Now if I lose 3 more ponts in 3 years thats the license gone as you only get 12. MY last offence (well actually it was my wife driving) was a speed camera offence in 2003 and with me driving was a speed camera offence in February 2002...Nothing prior to that except a speeding ticket on the Newcastle expressway in 1986. On the first occasion it was dark and I hadn't travelled down that road for months so was oblivious to the fact the stretch of road was now a 50 zone but admit i should have read the signs Any thoughts on whether I'd have any hope of being shown leniency by writing a nice letter?

You're kinda screwed with 2 offences in such a short period. I would go and see a solicitor that specialises in this stuff.
