Jeep have an advertising campaign "I Bought a JEEP" what if FORD had a similar campaign, with same amount of media/ tv advertising. That Jeep's doing ???
'I Bought a Falcon" so " I Compared COMMODORE to FALCON and Bought a Falcon" FORD need to be more imaginative in advertising. Food for thought.....

What are the jeep sales figures? I wouldn't imagine that there great. Brilliant advertisement. But I don't think it will help ford. fords problem lies with the product, not the advertisements

But Jeep are advertising a lifestyle ........getting outdoors blah blah...
What does buying a Falcon say about you ?? What does buying a Falcon inspire...... We need to move on from Ford v GM and Falcon v Commodore. The humble Falc now competes with stacks of Global manufacturers that were not here in the 80's and 90's.......the buying public are no longer Macka with his 4n20 pie dripping from his chin......we are much more diverse in our tastes and requirements and there are stacks more manufacturers to choose from with countless models and options..... Falcon is not a bad car.... But its use by date has come and no amount of advertising will switch the current buyer psyche. People want trendy, mid sized , optioned to the hilt Jap and Euro products or sporty SUV's. The cheaper end buy Korean because they offer unbelievable value and warranty. Buying Falcon is boring........

There is no advertisement for the Aussie made cars, when there was it was not very good. No excitement. I have not seen an Ecoboost ad on TV yet nor have I seen an EcoLPI ad. The closest I have seen to a falcon ad in a long time is the current Shell V Power.

What if,
FoA built Kuga, Territory and new t6 Everest here and then had the US build a 2-door Mustang and 4-door Maverick coupe for us? |

I believe you could have stopped after the words "What if Ford had an advertising campaign?"...

in regards to excitement, when was the last time Ford Australia produced something exciting? or evolutionary? in comparison with the rest of the world? 1971 was the last time they made global headlines (fastest 4door production car). Mecedes Benz spend a million pounds a day on R&D. Ford cant afford to keep the discovery center open. I just think advertising is the least of Ford's problems.

My point is that FordA are not moving with the rest of the world and producing. Cars that majority want. Key word, majoity. Tradies want a hilux, not a ute. Soccer mums want a BMW, not a territory Office workers are on the train, or riding the bikes in Suit and tie type need to show they have the balls to mix it with the bosses so they'll get. Porche or a m3 The young jippers on today are a mixed bag, but predominant 2 door sports car or a vn commodore, just something without traction control coz they done need it. The older statement, who only buys Australian made butter is torn between ford or Holden. It's not enough is it? This thread has been turned into ford vs jeep. The original question was would advertising help, to an extent, yes. Would ford consider it a success, probably not and it's not the advertisements fault.

Are we taking mainly Falcon because there small car sales aren't bad compared to the rest. Taking to a Ford rep they make sweat stuff all profit from Falcons so spending big on adds for them isn't going to happen. FPV does need to add some zing to there adds as Allan Moffat doesn't cut it.

Lol @chopped ..I stole those images... Gonna post them on facebook
Funnily enough I finally got the chance to drop into the local Holden dealer to tell them why I brought my XR.....it went something like this..."because you ****** wouldn't let take one of those...(pointing at a perfect blue SV6) for a test drive..so I brought that (pointing and my Kinetic Blue XR6) and left. Even now when I mentioned lease they didn't want to know. I also asked about prices and was told $36000 drive away for the SV6 the exact same price when I asked 3 months ago....some friggin sale.... |

You bought a Jeep? Yes Michael, I bought a Jeep!
What I don't think the wife in this ad understands, is that the husband is asking "why the hell did you buy a Jeep???"

Id be embarrassed to buy a european car. It dont want people to think Im a total dic....... when Im only a half one.
Except perhaps a Lamborghini or a Ferari -ie a real euro sportscar not one that aspires to such heights. So its the Falcon. A trouble free car with awesome features and benefits which cost me next to nothing. |

"Falcon is back"
Tackle bad perceptions head on and change them. All people hear is how Falcon will be gone shortly. They should crump this belief with a campaign |

FPV sell a fraction of what Ford do with Falcon yet its FPV who are running ads on TV, while Ford aren't.
Work that one out. FPV can't survive without Ford. |

Ford have class leading, or close to, vehicles in every segment, they do not make a single vehicle thats bottom rung. |

Problem is that large sedans are not as popular as they used to be. Reasons are multiple - more choice as market has opened up , more flexible body shapes available ,many people downsizing ... SUVs and Dual Cabs have taken large chunk of what used to be large sedan market. No amount of marketing can change trends , marketing functions within trends and not other way around. |

I however agree with what you're saying in regard to large sedans. You want value then the falcon has it in spades, you get a lot of car for the money!!
