I got caught for speeding the other day. 69 in a 60 zone. This is my first mobile camera fine and I remember that people used to say that if there were 2 cars in the pic, you could be let off. Is that still the case? I didn't notice the van at all at the time! So I don't know if I was truly speeding or not.
In the pic it looks like the white car would already have gone through the detection beam? Not sure about the oncoming traffic one. Opinions?

Nah your screwed lol.
Now they use lots of fancy terms to basically say 'we say it was you, so don't argue' And that one, having the info on the photo means it was taken with the proper speed camera so no out there. |

Totally agree! Can't believe I didn't see it. I always couldn't understand how someone can drive passed a camera and then get fined!

Don't beat yourself up about not seeing the camera vehicle. They are often positioned behind trees and things that block your approach vision. Some info on cameras here ... http://www.policespeedcameras.info/index.php/en/ |

Scott Cooper a call on 0419 536 975 Monday to Sunday 8am to 7pm Have a chat to him about your case and he will tell you what to do to fight the case in court rather than just pay the fine. Do you know that insurance premiums go up and they can even knock you back a claim if you did not tell them you got a ticket for going over a speed camera. Take action now Superfly cos i would like to see you fight and win in court. Stand up for your rights. |

In Victoria you get fine for doing exactly the same limit in some places, because all or most of the cameras are faulty in Victoria. That's why you see them turn off a lot of cameras and issue refunds for fines in Victoria. If everyone were to get a fine and say they deserve the fine and pay the fine as a voluntary tax they would just fine you for no reason in future. Stay up for your rights here everyone of us who drive a performance car wants to be able to go for a cruise down the road or in the country area doing the correct speed limit without being targeted by the COPS or being tailgate by them for miles. |

So is it all cameras or most cameras that are faulty? Exactly how many cameras have been turned off? All or most? Strange, I thought the thread was about a speed camera fine. If you want to start a police bashing thread, start one. |

Sheesh, I hope that I never come across yourself on the roads in WA. It would seem you're looking everywhere around you to notice your surroundings than actually paying attention to driving scenarios. Get your head out of the sand

I am truly sorry for the other road users wherever you happen to be blindly barreling along while in your own little world not paying attention. News last night had a driver just like you on it, ran into 2 little kids as they crossed the road. |

Two questions.
Were you traveling faster than 60km/h at that time? Were you gaining on the Golf or was he pulling away from you? That last line in the info box will indicate which lane triggered the camera. Sadly, I don't speak Gatso

I'm happy to pay the fine but if I don't have to, then that's even better.

In Vic , it is widely understood , if you have not infringed in the last 3 years , you can write to the office of infringements and state that , plead that this was a terrible oversight and clearly based on your past perfect record , they will allow you a pass .. Not sure though , whether the same policy is allowed on Qld ?? All the best

Maybe. It had been fine until then. Maybe it was all the extra power I gained over a FPV badge?

Check out www.aussiespeedingfines.com they have got heaps of info there that can help you fight your fine and save your points.
Just ask the DPP like what i did in court Can you prove that the picture cannot be tamper? Usually they can't prove it so they picture will be taken out as evidence, plus because they send you the fine they also need to prove that you are driving. |

No, you need to prove you were NOT driving by filling out a Stat Dec on the back. If you were driving you can take it to court but usually the costs outweigh the fine. $146 and 1 point here I guess. If a company car you can pay 5 times the $$$ and get no points. Amongst all the numbers are a code for the location, which will have to be approved, your speed 69, date/time etc. It also says F or A, Away in this case. Elsewhere on the ticket is a "Smith St" location and a zoom on the number plate. I can GPS track my cabs and the speed on the ticket has never been wrong...yet. You will need a very good reason to get off. |

These days speed camera's can track multiple lanes and multiple cars at a time so the old "blame the car next to me" doesn't work anymore.
Just pay the fine - plus within 10km's its only 1 demerit point isn't it? Not worth the hassle I reckon..

They're doing away with the signs from what I've seen around here so it makes it even harder to pick them out..... With regards to the OP's photo, I'd like to know how they decide who is in the wrong as well. Ed

Is there any technical evidence to show this is possible? Or is it just talk to hand out more fines.

If there is more than one car in the picture my bet is both get a fine. Both pay because it simply too hard to argue, who remembers if they were speeding 2 or so months ago.

The radar works on about 20 degree slant, so if it had been the white car they would have clicked him earlier.
Looks like an older unit mounted in the front of the cars, the later units point out the back and get you on approach |
