I would think the FPV would hold value better. Heaps of Holdens and HSVs out there for sale. Just general observation. Either way you can't go wrong.

All depends, if you want go a poofteenth faster buy the SSV, if you want the over all package with better looks and the top model in the Ford range, go the GTP, it will hold a better resale.
I don't mind the SSV's interior, but the exterior don't rock my boat. |

Depends what you want, if you want something special that looks nice, drives nice and has better fuel economy go the Ford. The small things like the Starter button and bonnet bulge make it a special package. You can option bluetooth and they have side airbags standard, not the curtain ones tho.
If you want something thats cheaper, possibly a little faster off the mark but with a notchy 6 speed auto that jurks all over the place then the Holden could be the better option for you. From experience the Factory Bluetooth in the Holden is **** and cuts out, i believe theres posts about this on the LS1 forums and ive experienced this issue myself. As for Resale the GT will win hands down, maybe not int he next 12 months but in 3 - 4 years time the GT will definately be worth more then a tarted up SS. Holdens resale is going to be a killer on the new lineup with the SSV and Calais V as when it comes to trade in time delears are going to use the excuse that they are just an SS or Calais with a tarted up pack! Currently we have a VE Calais V8 (same running gear as SSV) and i have a new Super Pursuit, so i guess you cant get a much better opinion then mine.

Easy, do you want a 5 year old car when the new one comes out? Do you want a car that the general public cannot identify if its a BA or BF2.
Or do you want the newest thing on the block? Both will have crap resale, at least Holden aren't discounting the hell out of theirs to keep sales ticking over for the next 12 months. In fact they are said to have a strategy to improve resales by not discounting, which so far has happened as they have been selling at full whack and still making huge numbers. Personally, I went Holden. I will revisit my decision in 2 years when Orion is 12 months old and I can compare new with VE (and anything else they may be around). But I am not loyal to any brand. I buy the best that I can afford, not the best my brand allows me to. |

Please... Go look at FPV resale. I like the Holden, but its not a million miles better then the Ford, infact there are things it lacks.

SSV in black - you're leasing it, why care about resale?

SSs have pretty good resale - last time I checked, resale rating for a manual model was 61% as opposed to the GT's 59%. I would get the SS because it's faster than the GT plus the BF model is getting replaced pretty soon.

Why are you worried about resale if you are leasing? If you want something from the Blue Oval get a Typhoon...cheaper too. Then again others just have to have the 8 for the sound and the fact that its an 8! Take a look at the SS-V its a great package as well as being cheaper. I guess the GT sits "higher" in falcon mode line up though if that counts for anything...for me, Id get the SS-V, but hand me the keys to either and id be smiling

Should be the easiest decision of your entire life.........GT all the way.
I do agree that the SSV is faster though...........FASTER to depreciate, FASTER to want to trade in , FASTER for you to get irritated with that damned handbrake and FASTER for you to regret your decision.......... :voldar02:

Damn I'd hate to have this choice............
You seem to be comparing FPV with Holden. Best bet is to go with your gut and forget brand loyalty. Of course you are leasing so go on whichever you enjoy driving more because when all is said and done you'll only have to live with the decision for 3 years or so. Good Luck

Oh ok fair enough. Its hard to say. I'm guessing the Orion will put the value of BA/BF's down quite a bit wouldn't it? I know the VE did with the VZ's. Theres more value to loose with the GT as well. Best advice is spend as much time in/behind the wheel of the cars you are looking at buying.

Tough one. Depends which of the two factors you mentioned (resale or features) are the more important to you. The GT is the older car so the SSV may edge it out in some areas, but the BA GT's seemed to hold their value pretty well when the BF GT's came out.
