A PROFESSIONAL male driver sitting in the passenger seat of a car being driven around the Queensland Raceway near Ipswich has died after the car hit a wall and burst into flames.
The passenger, 26, is believed to have been killed on impact at the track at Willowbank. The 20-year-old Brisbane man driving the car was pinned in the wreckage from the waist down for three hours after the crash at 11.30am. He was to be airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital after 2.30pm in a stable condition. The track had been hired for a private event and the car was a private vehicle. Inspector David Preston said the 20-year-old's family, who were trackside at the time of the accident, were distraught. Earlier, it was reported one man was dead and another trapped with horrific burns after the fiery crash. Police said the dead man was a passenger in the car, which crashed at the Queensland Raceway at Willowbank, near Ipswich, about 11.30am today. Emergency crews were still trying to free the injured driver, the Department of Community Safety said. According to the raceway's website, the track was being used by a company that offers rides in a green and black Porsche. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/q...-1226740247873 condolences to his family...
