If you get your P's before July, none of the new laws will apply to you.

Like the usual level of fine and what they do with the car? Do they let you drive it home or do they drive it home for you?

Judging by your user name you are planning on doing this? I would advise against doing so and also **passes flame suit to lerner** you will need this.

I reckon if you're stupid enough to drive alone on your Ls, you should have the following done to you:
* 6 months jail OR 25k fine * Blacklisted from owning a car for 5 years * Unable to reapply for Ls for 5 years * Wear Ps for 5 years when you DO pass. Sounds harsh but hey, some people need to learn about rules and regulations.

not to mention your parents would either be dissapointed, or like what my old man would of done to me if i got caught belted me a good one.
i only use to drive me car around the block, after doing work on it with friends. just to make sure it was all working right haha. but still i told my parents about it about a year later and they said they would of taken my keys off me if they had known.

You haven't said what state you're in. This can make a big defference.
In Vic its a court appearence and will likely be a fine and suspension/cancellation or your learner's along with a time being suspended/disqualified from driving? That's a guess. Unless you kill or seriously injure someone, you won't go to gaol. But who wants to run that risk?

I used to nick my mum's taxi after the night driver had finished. I only got caught once, by her and that was after I had passed my Ps test, but still waiting to turn 17 to be officially "licensed"

I had an accident while no licensed drivers were in the car.
i got off VERY (cop punishment wise) lightly. i am in victoria though. and i was 17 at the time. don't even take the risk, you are no-where near experienced enough. and if you've already done it and got caught, well expect anything from an official caution to a massive fine and a court apperance. |
