@ OP, (to answer your question) nothing's wrong with you, it's just personal preference. You can choose other options with what you save by choosing cloth. Main thing is you love your car and enjoy the ride.
Don't forget to Scotchguard or use a fabric protector though! ![]() |

On a normal day, leather. It's easier to clean. I have never noticed leather feeling too hot, maybe it's because of the tinted windows but I have noticed it when it's way too cold. Perhaps seat warmers and coolers will do the trick. I understand why people don't like leather.

I was disappointed when I saw my future car in the dealers and it didn't have leather. I bought it anyway and now am glad it didn't. I much prefer the cloth seats and so do my kids. They don't like going in Mummy's Landcruiser as much as Daddy's GT!

The leather in my Fairlane looked great but I covered it with lambswool. Just can't sit on leather for any length of time.

Nothing wrong mate.
I don't like leather either. Will be looking for a cloth interior next year when the FH comes out.

Sometimes in summer I wish I had cloth seats... but then I accidental spilt coffee on the excel cloth seats and I remember why I hate them.

Hard to beat a real quality leather in a high end Euro that comes with heating and ventilated cooling. OTOH dark grey Ford leather with neither heating or cooling is pretty ordinary stuff.

Nothing is wrong with you , leather is grossly overrated and totally impractical in Australias climate , especially the cheap crappy leather ford use .

Thats why scotchgard was invented , I treat every car and lounge suite the day we buy them then spills simply get absorbed with a chamois or a damp cloth.

You're not gonna impress anybody with Scotchguarded cloth. You've gotta have cheap leather (seating surfaces only, if FoA does things the way Ford does it in the US) to impress people!

i have had 3 AU XR's, 2 with leather 1 with cloth and the cloth one was much more comfortable, plus the falcon leather is only on the top of the seat, the sides and door trim panel is vinyl on the XR's and feels like rubber.

I think when you pay 70K + for any vehicle, leather should be the default cloth should be the option....Just my 2c.

I prefer leather. Looks a lot better in my opinion. I love the black leather in my Ghia. I don't have any "hot" or "cold" issues with it either.
G6ET is far superior to the XR6T in my books...different league.

I too am a cloth man. I dont understand how anyone can like leather. It looks good, but thats it.
It burns you when its hot, feels stale when its cold, you slide off it when your wearing clothes, and you stick to it when your wearing shorts or a singlet. What the hell there is to like? There is NOTHING appealing about it. Every possible reason has been nullified as above. Unless of course you like all of them..... Nothing wrong with you. Its the people who like leather that need their head checked! Flamesuit on.

I'm with you as well muso - can just get in and go with cloth seats. I've got a 12 yr old AU2 XR6 with 277000 mostly country km on the clock (all mine). Nothing wrong with the standard cloth seats in it. I must be getting old tho, cos i'm starting to get uncomfortable if I do more than 1000 km in 1 day.

Ford term them "Leather appointed" seats. So only the bit you sit on/rest your back on is leather. Everything else is fake.

I know this thread is about leather versus cloth seats but what also sways me towards the G6ET over the XR6T is they are apparently much much quieter from inside and I really love quiet cars...always have. Some people have said there's no or little difference between Xr and G series and others say that the G series has a lot more sound deadening material. When I read road test reviews it's a common comment that the FG XR6T has quite a bit of road/tyre noise but I never see any comments about road noise from G6Et reviews, to the contrary they comment that the G6Et is very quiet and refined on the road (more refinement than rival Calais V 6.0) there isn't much mention of that rotten Ford drive line shunt either.
A bit off topic I know ![]() |
