My boss just took delivery of a new SSV (3 1/2 months after he actually ordered it). He says the gear shift (manual) is crap, really sloppy. The handbrake is next to useless when you need to do hill starts. He is not overly imressed with the interior either, He says he cannot remember the demo car being like his is.
He's a holden man and says he would prefer my BF XR8 instead.

Do you plane on keeping it after the lease is up???

The SS in 3 years will just be another one of the 1000’s of SS commos driving around. In 3 years time the GT will still be a GT and it always will be.

Resale value well isn’t Holden just about due for a series 2 VE. Witch will leave you VE SS in 3 years time about as attractive as a BA MK1 XR8.

But like they say we are Ford guys, hell when I was looking at my new car it was XR6T Or XR8 nothing else was even in the picture.

Plus in years to come you can look back on all the memories and say I owned a Falcon GT.

The only new Holden I honestly would consider is the Caprice, a mate has a very tidy one with the last of 304V8’s in it and my Uncle has the new one with the 6ltr and both are sick cars.

I still get a buzz from the TS and its 7.
Yep... its a GT!!!

And it sounds like a V8 should!!!

Just think what it will be like when someone asks what you drive. Would you rather say 'I drive a gt' or 'I drive an SS commodore'. Everyone drives commodores, be different!

No bias here intended but personally you shouldn't really base your decision on which nameplate sounds better when people ask you what you drive?

Just my personal opinion. Go out and test/see the cars in the flesh. Will be looking forward to seeing your choice! One of the hardest things these days is picking the colour! :P

Current model Falcon is so dated now. I would be interested to see what the next model is like, hopefully not another AU ugly duckling. I would never buy any Commodore ever, they are over rated and too conformist. I have hated them since they came out, especially when the whole Brock thing was happening in the early 80s. The biggest tools at my school had VB Commodores, under finance in 1987, I am even quoted in my year 12 yearbook as disliking them, this hatred is not a new thing ,just gets compounded year after year when I see the next generation step up to their VL and crash it into a tree.

Do what you think is best mate.

Personally I would go the GT, well because it's a GT.;)

As a few people have already said, the SS will just be another SS amoungst 1000s in the next couple of years.

Faster then the GT? Yes, but the GT has something that the SS doesn't have, heritage, and they look awesome.

we got ford down from $71k to $53k for our bf ,so i guess if they want to sell they will drop in price ,if you find a 1/2 descent dealer they will tell yo that ford lets them sell at times for a loss and are re-emberessed ,if you need to talk to a dealer about it i can give you a couple of numbers in brisvegas that can leed you up the path of rightiousness ,not sure about the problems with ss this day but ford are having their share ....but as the old saying goes "i'd rather push my ford than drive a holden "..and of course "god invented holdens to keep f@! wits out of fords "my favourite ...doc

I reckon you just can't beat a V8.

You don't need to explain anything when you own a GT its instant street rep.

Even though the Typhoon is faster you have to explain to people what it is etc etc.

Everybody knows what a GT is.

Well thats my 2 cents im hoping that when I get off my P's I can pick up a nice second hand BF GT.
