BY LUCK!.. In the 80's i was a chrysler man MOPAR! hehe right up to 1991 where i was after another V8 charger. Bought one actually.. an E55 but returned it after i got home and got all my money back $8,500+deposit!
I always liked coupes, well the GT's, their rear stance but one day after leaving a pub at Magill, saw this white 302 coupe outside and it just looked so good and thought i might go ford coupe (XBGT). Next week saw my coupe advertised for $9500 ahh too much i thought, next week saw it for $8500 so went down. As soon as i saw the rear of it in the driveway (sitting on 275*60*15) i wanted it! and did for $7750 - first and prolly last ford ![]() |

Was either an VY SS (maybe VZ but certainly couldnt afford VE at the time) or a BA/BF turbo. Weighed them up together and guess which one I chose..

Because nobody gave me a Ferrari.
My old man likes Fords so I grew up in them and it rubbed off. I like the sound of a V8 and wanted a modern car so I bought the BA. Actually it was bought on a spur of the moment decision which I would have taken back a few years ago. I'm content with the old (young) girl now.

Currently don't own a ford. I brought my old EF Fairmont because my
Mate had an Ef falcon and when I drove it I liked it, started looking and found the fairmont with the v8. Loved that car got rear ended. I'm looking at buying a ba ute as the commodore ute is harder to get a tray top and also like the look and quality of the fords over the commodores. |

My old mans first ford was a '59 Fairlane Stn Wagon. Mine was a second hand '54 Mainline Ute. Except for an HR Ute I've had me bum in a falcon ever since.

I had a VC and then a VR Commodore did the VR up to an extent. Nice and clean, a bit of a power increase, wheels, suspension, etc. Thought I'd stick with the Commodores.
I wanted a more modern car at the time, and didn't feel the VT or VX, so I took an AU for a drive on the Friday and purchased it the following Monday. And it went from there. I enjoyed the drive, the way it handled, etc. Lowered it, some wheels, exhaust, stereo the usual. Then fell in love with the BA XR range, and when it came time to upgrade, looked at a few examples, every time I'd go back for a 2nd look, they'd be gone, or SOLD stickers would be on them. Finally, I made the decision I wanted one after researching them for a while and looking around, got out of bed one morning, grabbed the Mrs. and said, I'm getting an XR6 today.. settled on a BA XR6 in Acid Rush I had looked at a few times and traded the AU that day. And I've been happy since, it needed a few things, but it's been great. I love the way it drives, how it loves the open road, the endless amount of power it feels like it has in a real world environment. And of course the Sports shifter. |

I always felt that the build quality was what sold it for me! little things like how the indicator stalk feels when pushed to the side, or the feel of the trim.

Best built, best looking, best sounding, best going, best price. All of that combined with being born a Ford man.
Nuff said. |

My old man had a 22 foot cabin cruiser when I was 10, and an IMMACULATE chamois beige HZ Kingswood with a 202. Man that was a bloody clean unit. Anyhoo, we took the newly aquired cabin cruiser down to the ramp and whacked it in the water, went out the back of Rotto(an island off Perth) and came back with an Esky full of fillets. Whacked the big boy back on the trailer and slipped the Kinga into first,(3 on the tree) and well, no dice. Old boys best mate was with us on the day and pulled it out with a 4.1 XE he was driving at the time. Mate there was a lot of knee slapping about the Kingswood after that, and to be honest the Ford my old boy had afterwards (XB 302) was rubbish compared to the Kingswood, but it pulled that bloody boat off the ramp. I just knew he shouldve got a 253 version instead of the tightarse 202. But the old Falcon 500 served us for 13 years, and proved far more reliable than the boat it was purchased to tow.

I grew up with the parents owning a TC Cortina (The 250, not the 4 cylinder one). That was one reliable car. Then Dad got the XE brand new to replace the EH (I think) Holden. Had the XE it's whole life and it's now in my shed after Dad passed away.
I started my driving life in a cheap, but reliable TE Gemini. Couldn't kill that thing no matter how hard I tried. When I eventually finished uni and got a full time job, it was time to get rid of the Gemini and get myself a new(er) car. Based on the great, trouble free motoring that we'd had with the other 2 Fords in my life, I naturally went for a Ford. Had the EL now for nearly 12 years and it has been as trouble free as the previous Fords. It'll be replaced soon with another Ford.

most practical and well priced vehicle for me. Unless iwas to go backwards and buy a VT wagon- nothing has the same room and looks as a BFII.

I own , and have owned many , many, Fords because I have
always thought they ride better, more comfortable and for the most time perform better There are also a few very good Ford Dealers that have looked after me very well and treated me like a valued customer Having said that I am not sure I would give Ford Motor Company the same glowing reference |

I will let you in on a party trick that may just save you putting your foot in your mouth so much. Before coming back with clever replies to people's posts just quickly look through their history and see if you have actually got it completely wrong. Sometimes the person you are replying to does know what they are talking about. Because of this facility you will find that the majority do not lie, make stuff up or pretend they are or have done whatever. It is far to easy to get caught. In saying that beware of the "stealth troll". These pathetic people have no details in their profile and go to great lengths to remain totally anonymous while attacking and ramming their personal agenda down everyone's throats. |

I wanted a 4 door sedan. A few overpriced VY's later and then my BA showed up went to look and bought it.
Could of easily ended up driving for the red team. I am now glad I don't. |

When i think about I don't really know what started the obsession with the blue oval, my family is car neutral really, parents have had Mitsubishi Pajeros since they first appeared on the market, i remember before that our good car was mums cortina, which was bought as a demo when new. And thew old man still has a fully restored XP wagon. For me in my teens I don't think i really was leaning towards anything, when I was 16 my cousin had a XW with 302 and 12 slotters that probably sparked my interest maybe. But fate would have it on a country drive when i was 17 we past a servo in a small country town and out the front was a yellow ochre XY GT replica with for sale sign on it. And well, the rest is history.

Its smooth and easy to drive. Au's are 10 years old now and still don't look dated like VT/VX commodores do. Plus it blends into the crowd and police don't even look.
