It's probably cool to the owners who put them on their non FPV car but to see it on someones non FPV just makes me laugh. Just as bad as sticking GTS badges on a base model 202 Kingswood. Same with FPV RTA issue rego plates and personalised plates that seem to be finding their way on to XR's and XT's in large numbers.

I have no issue with body kits, stripes or wheels (and have stuck rims and a bodykit on a non FPV) , although every 2nd B series XR6/8 you see around these days seems to have stripes on it. Where it once may have looked good, today its starting to look a bit tacky, especially when teh stripes haven't been applied properly

i find quite the opposite in vic. They used to be everywhere but now it's rare to see an XR with stripes. A lot of the GT's around also don't have them.

Dont get me wrong each to their own I say, however I look at it this way. You can turn a standard EF or EL GLi into a replica XR6/8 it still doesnt make it a Tickford so why badge it up as one.
I am a purist in that way. One day I am considering putting a turbo into the wagon but I still wont be sticking a Turbo badge under the XR6 one on my tailgate.
I have seen a bog stock BA XT driving around with FPV badging all over it. It just looks wrong, no accounting for taste or sense for that matter.

even I thought it was a Hulk thread.

I still attest that the XR8s BA-FG were FPV cars. A FG 5.4 FPV GS all it has over the XR8 is a different motor and badges but the xr8 despite the motor being built on the same carousel is not a FPV?

In BA-BF form even FPV's didnt wear FPV badges but ford badges.

Who really cares? So long as they aren't being sold as one. But still it is not as bad as Chev badges on Holdens though.
As for XY GT-HO's, Ford made about 300 of them and there are only about a 1000 of them left on the road now.

I've got them on mine. Its my car, and its my money. Besides its hard to buy only genuine parts to upgrade your ride and not be able to put them into say the front dogleg on the BSeries FPV side skirt without hacking it up cause you may offend someone.

Most couldn't tell mine isn't FPV and yet is a Futura. Besides when you get comment like "that's the best looking Ford I've seen" it kinda shows that the general public don't care, and if it promotes Ford and or FPV you'd have to be a pretty worried about the Joneses if you spilt hairs to that degree.

However if someone were to try and sell their car as an FPV that is a faker that's a complete other story.

Man! Some people get worked up easy.

It's only a poll, vote and move on for-crying-out-loud. No point being whingy about somethigng that doesn't even remotely affect your life.... besdies maybe make you chuckle at a half baked replica.

Yeah no worse, but still I don't think it's a great idea anyway.

When I bought my 300c I wanted the SRT8. But it cost too much and insurance was over the top. So I bought the 5.7 Hemi instead.

I would feel a bit silly if I stuck an SRT8 badge on the back, Then had to tell people its not really one and I just put it there because I wanted one.

if you want the badge, put the badge on it
if you don't want the badge, don't put it on

you don't have to tell anyone anything - your pride in your individual car should be more than any words can say

Does this apply to QLD FPV personal plates, in the absence of ford plates?

I was about to answer the poll that I would not put FPV badges on Ford, but my personal plates have kinda ruined that.

Is it a FPV? No? Then don't put the bloody badges on it then! My opinion of course. Honestly though I don't care. There's many, many other things to worry about than a badge!

I think there is a difference.

As I said before I would never put a SRT8 badge on my 300c. But a set of 20inch SRT8 rims would look sweet. I may even do that one day.

my thoughts are that wheels, stripes, bonnet bulges are cosmetic items and sometimes can look quite good, but fitting the badge is like a claim that it is a FPV

i cannot see the difference - they are just trying to make their car something it is not . . . or doing a basic modification that they like the look of

an fpv badge can look much classier than the ford one. maybe some people like the look of the fpv one, and are not trying to fool people. the average humble earthling would have no idea what the car is anyway

i had better go - i need to remove the gt and ltd badges from the coupe. some people might think i am trying to trick joe public into thinking it is a gt-ltd that ford made back in the 70's
