Default Booking a test each day for a week?

Do you think this is a good way of getting your licence. It's only $40 for a test and in the context of my life, earning capacity, etc. not a significant amount. LIke if I booked monday-Friday one week and keep coming back each day?

I don't think you can do that, I think you have to wait a few days, at least in NSW anyway. Besides you are just throwing your money away. I wish I could say that $200 a week was an insignificant amount :

Just read the handbook, do some online tests. For the RTA is exactly the same as the learner licence test. Pretty easy

Knowing how to drive is a good way to get your license. ;)

Ive probably wasted 500-1000 on driving tests and pro lessons for a year. I can drive ok just mainly 4 way intersections which there is virtually 0 where I live and where I would drive and big roundabouts is what Ive failed on. Maybe if I dont clean for a week and stink up my car for the driving instructor he will let me pass to avoid the smell.

Should you be on last chance learners?

Look, if you are confident and you know what you are doing you will be fine.

Read over the learner book, get some toy cars and ask someone to help you simulate real situations on the road. Intersections are easy. Just stop if there is a stop sign/line, look each way, give way to anyone on your right. If someone is across from you and going straight ahead and you want to turn across their path, give them right of way to cross, then you turn. As for roundabouts if you follow the arrows you will be fine, make sure you indicate if you are going past 12o'clock, and indicate left just before you exit the roundabout (i think that is still the rule).

Like I said study the road rules book if you are unsure.

Don't waste more money on tests. Make sure the next time you book you are ready. If you are not ready to drive on your own, the tester will not pass you. It is about being ready, not about passing.

I agree I think this is a good place to start. If you convince yourself that large roundabouts and intersections are difficult, you'll make yourself nervous and risk mistakes. Theres nothing even remotely difficult about driving, just know your rules and pay attention and you'll be fine.

Personally, I'd prefer it if you keep "wasting" your money and learn how to drive before they let you loose on society. $500-$1000 is a hell of a lot to spend on lessons, you must need the eductaion though if you keep failing the test.

Keep it up, you'll get there eventually.

Most instructors (if not, state laws) will not let you retest for about a fortnight over here.

Would have thought the money be better spent on lessons, or to fill someone's tank in an effort to thank them for teaching you.

get some confidence before you waste any more money... you should be able to say "hey, I'm experienced enough.. I know I can pass the next time"

when I was on my L's .. I went to a Open Day at winton ... and with help of mark_td as the instructor .. I did learn a lot taking the 2hrs 30 mins there and 2hrs 30 mins back... and a bonus was I actually drove on the race track. after that days worth of driving.. I knew I will pass my P's first shot! and just having the confidence nudged me to victory :P and an easy pass I might add.

that'd be a stupid waste of money, at least maybe once a week

why cant you drive a friends or family car? drive around the back streets, or huge empty car parks at night LEARN the car, changing gears braking, practice parking (if you want to own a falcon you better learn now) and just learn the basics
then pay the instructor for the more complex stuff, intersections, roundabouts, giveways and stops.....but DONT pay $40 everyday to learn its not worth it

like studying you cant cram it all in the night before

just beacause you don't speed doesn't meen you are safe in the slightest.

especially when you are saying you are not confident at certain intersections and round abouts which happen to be slow speed things.

don't find a dodgy way around it. learn how to drive and be confident.

I thought reversing wouldn't be an option, your going back to the stop line and you can't see again. And it's not always safe or practical to reverse back.

Cute (but stoopid!) I like this. A car on a bungee cord

Once you have come to a complete and full stop at the correct point (Line or sign) you can then do what you like.

But if the above Bungee cord is still attached, JC's idea could be fun.

you must stop at or before the white line! no ifs, no buts, no maybes. Once you have come to a complete stop you are than permitted to move forward until you have an uninterrupted view of the road, you must than give way because you are still governed by the stop sign. If you get booked for this than take the fine, than inform the cop you will see him in court. Get some photo evidence of the scene while you are there if you can. Come back later and get some decent film evidence from within the car and play out the scenario again capture it on tape and have your day in court. Should be fun!!!

You say you've failed on a couple of things. How many tests have you done so far?.
Try asking your instructor if he/she thinks you are ready for a test.

if you're assuming that you'll fail potentially four times before you get it on the friday then you aint ready to go for it, god help us if you 'jag it'

BTW i aint just being a ***** , i failed four times myself, and i left it a month or two between each go as i realised i wasnt confident enough with certain aspects. and in that time i really tried to improve, i didnt just keep trying to pass knowing i wasnt good enough

If you have failed on intersections and roundabouts before ... you really need to go out and practice a lot more on these.

If you fail at the above ... that equals NOT SAFE.

Getting hours behind the wheel of a vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions is the only way to get experience and confidence on the road.

It looks like the Pro Driving schools you have been going to haven't really been helping ... especially if you have paid around a grand just on those and still failed.

I think it is time to look for a different driving instructor who will get you to work on your weaknesses when driving and instruct/teach you the correct way so you will pass.

While you're at it, celebrate your 21st now, because with that attitude, you won't actually make it. A driving license is not a right, it must be earned, and respected.

IM not sure it is even possible to do. I keep trying to book again and it tells me the specific time is already booked whatever time i choose. maybe only 1 booking per account at time?

Id pay a 1000 to anyone who can get me my licence once I have my licence.

this is how i failed the time i almost passed. It was 2 concentric circles on the roundabout and the other guy was in the middle lans so technically I shouldve stopped before the outer lane but i didnt brake soon enough. im red,he's blue
