BA, yes, I like it, I can see an evolution from the AU to the BA and to me the BA looks classy. Focus, yes I like it, although having said that I prefer the 'old' Focus to the new one. "Euro looking VE", no, I don't like it. Having said that, it's not because it's a Holden, it wouldn't matter to me what brand it is, if I was told that was the new Falcon, I would have the same reaction. That styling just doesn't appeal to me, simple as that. It's a subjective thing, like the AU Falcon, S14 Silvias, or recent Magnas, some people will hate the styling, some people will love it. If I thought the new Commodore looked good, I would be the first to say so, and we'll wait and see what it looks like "in the flesh" so to speak before we all know for sure what our opinions are of it. Theres more Euroness about the VE then there is about the BA.. The only thing that really follows the Euro look on the BA is the rear talight and bumper design, as for the rest its pretty much Aussie... The Holden looks very Euro due to the guards being rolled out like they are along with the sweeping rear quarter pannel, and the huge *** front grill...
If the front lights wraped around a bit more I personally would mind it, but imagine it with hubcaps and black highlights eg. Executive, its going to be an ugly mongrel.

Its obvious why the VE sucks. It's the first time ever that Holden designed the Commodore, for once, its not a re-badged Opel. Well its not far from it.. the Holden Commodore Vectra Accord Seppo Audi A4 monstrosity isn't really a great individual design, its a bunch of cars stuck together in a shocking way.

I can't say the VE is a nice looking car - too many around shaped like that, except for the lion dinner plate in the front grille. Windows also a wee bit too small.
Would I buy one? Probably not but I'll make up my mind when I see the new Ford. |

Here's a post we had ages ago about the new magna - its got a rear quarter shot of a test car - however a few of us have had a look at the panel work and we doubted at the time its the new magna. However, I do think it matches motor's descriptions pretty well for the rear door. Someone else told me it was a new buick under desert tests out here, who knows.

The shadowing/reflections are almost identical.. What's going on here?! Maybe it's a charade? It could pass as the prototype of the Astra, and Holden is planning a big surprise!!

If you look at the LS1 thread they have the Torana concept posted in there aswell. Looks very similar if not the same so we know it can take the TT HFV6 in it. I look very forward to see if the new commy comes with the TT in years to come.

to shed some light into the twin turbo, im about 99% certain it will be out in the VE2. it will either be 235kw or 245kw, but these figures can jump around daily. so dont expect to see this until atleast the end of 2007. as for the rim sizes as walkinshaw asked before, its still undertermined but the exec wiill get 16inch stockies with hubcaps, the calais will get 18'rims, and the ss will get 18" with option of 19". hsv will be 19" and a possible option of 20"....... wagons wont come out until atleast 6-7months after the sedan is brought out, then utes 3-4months after wagon, then statesmans 2 months after. so about a year or so later all the models will be out.

I heard the turbo was cancelled. Along with the Monaro and a host of other stuff. By none other then Bob Lutz. GM's not exactly doing too well at the moment. The Zeta platform has been axed for the USA. As far as I know, Commodore will be the only Zeta based car in the world.

mate no idea about bob lutz, but its in the making. they have over 200 twn turbo engines that are going to be put into test pigs and on engine dynos. there pretty serious about this. as for the monaro being axed, i dont think so, as a worker at holdens i can tell you there is just as much demand in export terms for monaros (pontiac GTO) as export statesmans. so i don think there going to be axing one of there major exports.

Why is everyone so surprised that the VE pics are photoshops? I thought that the first time I saw them. Motor and wheels are always chucking in photoshops, theyre more interestng than dodgy car bra'd piccys. The next holden should be pretty nice looking in SS and calais form, but will continue the VY trend of plastic, tacky, el cheapo base models.

I don't think anyone is surprised they're photochops... Perhaps more surprised at the fact that the pics are so close to the Saturn Aura, like they haven't even tried to be a bit creative..
