Ford is reducing the number of dealers but they are working with them instead of just imposing their will on them. They are helping them to consolidate instead of just shutting them down. They do need to reduce the number of dealers so that the lower volume of cars enable dealers to be profitable by moving more of the fewer cars through fewer dealers.
Ford is slowing this process though as they realized GM and Chrysler are closing many dealerships that are in rural areas. This means who's dealership will be left, and where will the people go??? The Ford dealership. : Steve
